Did anyone notice that some very well spoken people (IMO) over at ECF have gotten banned?

I've noticed they added some more MODS to their line up and I see alot of weight being thrown around.

Mods seem to be jumping into threads and making accusations. I find it all rather distasteful. Some of the threads I've read are newbies bragging about their purchase, good sales or someone asking too many questions.

I bragged about my first purchase too. However after looking at the new MODS and them having public conversations with each other inside a thread and accusing anyone of misdoings is too much. I think this kind of moderation is too intimidating especially to newbies and may cause them NOT to interact therefore discouraging them from the e-cig experience.

I hope those who find themselves in that unfortunate situation find their way to vapezone.com

I can't speak for the 'other' forum, because vapezone is the only e-cig forum I frequent...but, being a 'forum type' I've been to many...and have only experienced two forums that are staffed with 'qualified' mods...this being one of them.

This may be a bit of a stereotype, and there is no correlation to my opinion regarding the Mod here, she's a good friend who I respect and go back a long way with...BUT...

I tend to bypass mods on other forums as much as possible...they truly do seem to fit the mold of people who spend too much free time on the internet, perhaps because they have nothing better to do with their life, and take on an 'ownership' role of the forum, regardless of what's in the best interest of the forum and it's members.

My general rule is, if someone WANTS a position of 'authority', they are the last people who should receive it...because there's an underlying reason why they crave it and it's usually to feed some insecurity of theirs.

That's my public service announcement...I'll shut it now...haha

Probably a good general rule but I have heard of a few volunteer offers here, in case should Mini want more mods, which I feel sure result more from a desire to help out because they want it to succeed.

Yeah, like I said, I've never even been to the other place...I'm making a very general statement regarding my experiences elsewhere.

Even then, some were very cool...it just doesn't take many poor ones to affect the whole atmosphere.

I barely go to the "discussion" areas of ECF any more so I haven't noticed. Even without any undue moderation the whole place was too combative for my tastes.

some of the newer mods seem to be alittle quick to step in instead of letting members self moderate amongst themselves to a degree

Thanks all...I know what forum I'm NOT signing up for! lol

The Admin there seems to be on a bit of a soap box, anyway...that's never a good sign.

It seems this all started when a couple of new mods started

Exactly............a few people start complaining and before ya know it there's new laws and rules implemented. People need to learn how to work things out on their own, instead of running to the mods demanding changes.................

wow imagine that one of their new mods 75% of their posts lately have been in the for sale thread and rest have been nagging about repeating topics that sounds familiar http://deephousepage.com/smilies/jpshakehead.gif

Yep. I've been considering that one a new mod too.

Really? I thought she had been a mod since at least when I started looking there back in Feb. That gives her at least a little more experience. I've only ever really dealt with her via PM though for my coupon list and she's perfectly reasonable that way. I never saw her much out in the forum back when I visited there a lot.

I start looking around the same time, Strell. She'd posted to some of the threads I was watching, and I'm pretty sure she was a regular poster for that first half of the time. She used to seem knowledgeable about the topics, but I don't recall any posts which wasn't specifically informative. Could have been the threads, but I really don't recall ever thinking she was anything other than a regular member back then.
