The 510 is the best, hands down.

It's all in personal opinion. If it wasn't, everyone would drive the same kind of car, have the same house, eat the same things, etc. etc. etc.

Agree with Jim.

There is an e-cig model for everyone, not everyone has the same scoring system or preference.

M401 is known for it's cigarette like feel. You can get a lot of vapor from just a short draw, and the fact that it has a 7-second cut off is ike having a cigarette/hookah hybrid :)

I do have M401's and like them. They interchange with the intellicig EVO. I have a few EVO's but don't care much for the battery design.

I'm by no means knowledgeable when it comes to e-cigs, in fact, quite the noob...but, I'm lucky enough to be friends with Sunshyn, and have gained a lot more exposure and info to e-cigs from her and you guys on this forum...

I've just purchased a 401 off of Sunshyn, and am VERY happy with it. The intake flow is very 'free', easy to draw off of...much easier than the 901 knockoff I use which only has one 'draw' hole (the 401 has four). It's draw is almost as easy as the manual 510 I have used, but unlike the 510, is automatic, which may be an important feature to some.

Aesthetically, the 401 is perfect...Black Matte in color with the glowing blue LED light, and a sleek gold band at the atomizer/battery join. It is light and very balanced compared to the larger e-cigs I've used (901/4075 and 701), it's perhaps an inch longer than a regular cigarette (analog), less difference in size compared to regular 100's cigarette. Width wise, it is just slightly wider than a regular cigarette. It's also lighter and easier to carry around than larger ecigs, such as the 801 and 901...it feels very natural in my fingers.

I get more vape off of the 401 than I do the 910, even when using a pre-filled cartridge. It's produces not as much vape as the 510, and definitely not as much as the 801, but I find it very adequate. For me, experiencing the vape visual is important...perhaps because I'm a smoker and equate a decent amount of vape to satisfying my smoking urge.

The throat hit is surprisingly good...which actually eases my 'mental' fixation with the vape amount. Granted, I'm currently smoking the 'tobacco' flavor, as I'm still a smoker...as such, the throat hit I receive is definitely sending a signal to my brain receptors, as I feel 'satisfied' when I vape with the 401. In comparison, the 901 has not produced this type of throat hit, and I find myself vaping more to 'satisfy' myself, and end up lightheaded from nicotine overdose.

One concern of mine with the 401 is how easily the battery is activated. If I merely 'blow' on the LED, it activates the battery. I have loosened the atomizer from the battery, in hopes it would prevent the batter from activating...but, it appears the battery can be activated on it's own, so unscrewing the atomizer seems pointless. This could be an issue on battery life, if carried in a pocket...though, I haven't noticed a negative result as of yet.

Another concern are the cartridges. I don't see any 'filler' in the cart like I have with other model's carts. My concern is how to properly fill these carts with my own juices when they are empty of their pre-filled state. (haha...that sounds kinda funny...nevermind). This obviously may just be a 'noob' concern on my part, and does not deter me from wanting to use the 401 as a main ecig.

Overall, I've gotta say, I'm really, really impressed with the 401. I started with the 901, and have purchased a 510 from Mini's store which will be delivered shortly. Personally, and perhaps to the contrary of other users, I prefer the 401 over the 901. Understand, I own a 901 'knockoff', which may be part of the issue with my perception/opinion on the 901. I do like it...but, I think I'm beginning to 'love' the 401.

I don't want to submit this post as an actual 'review'...again, I'm a noob...I only own a 901 knockoff and this 401. I have, however, used the 801 and 510...so I feel my opinion may offer some value to another noob just coming along. With that said, I don't see any new vaper being disappointed with a 401 purchase, if you are looking for a similar experience I am with an e-cig device.

Very nice review Boo. You could have put this in as a new review thread. Newbie viewpoints are very useful to people.

Just a note, Boo technically got the 401 from http://www.minicigarette.net/ as I'd gotten it for Greger right before he discovered a whole new world of vaping with the 801.

Unscrewing the atomizer might be safest. You wouldn't want that heating up too much in your pocket. Also, if the atomizer is kicking on when its too dry, it could be damaged.

I could have sworn I'd seen a video which showed how to top off the 401 carts but was unable to find it. Try using a paper clip through the mouth hole to push up the little cup. Then you should be able to see it to top it off.

I'm sure there are regular 401 users who could better explain how they do it, though I hear most about people just dipping the atomizer end into a contact lense case holding liquid.

Oh well, maybe I'll write another down the road after I've played with it more. I'd like to see how it compares to my 510 when that arrives.

I didn't think about the atomizer heating up in my pocket. Is your pocket smoking or are you just happy to see me?

Hmmm...I gotta give that a try. I did put a drop of the chocolate liquid on the atomizer yesterday...I like that the atomizer is an 'outtie' and not an 'innie'.

you will find the carts on the 401 is more of a hassle to refill/top off as you need to be able to pop the tiny cup out of the mouthpiece. They don't hold much liquid either. That model is better for dripping/dipping. I ditch the cup and just use the mouthpiece and drip as it has less restricted air flow.

TXSRooster uses a contact lens case and carries to flavors and his method is called "dipping" where you just dip the exposed bridge for a second into the liquid and then you good for a session.

OK Boo. Got you some advice from an expert on the 401. :)

Spikey asked me to share this advice on topping off a 401:
...just hold the dropper directly over the center and drip 2 drops. that is usually enough unless it is really dry.. then 3 drops is usually good. I think I show how to do it in my 901vs 401 video review.

The relevant review can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvUy76zlZd0

That cart in the review is an older design. The cup has been changed to a smaller triple groove design.

You could try to drip a few and hope to hit the mark, but if you should miss by a tad you will end up getting liquid in your mouth if you don't take the cup out and clean your mouthpiece. You also have to have very steady hands. A little more hassle would be to pop it up but no out completely and then top off and then use a tool to push the cup back down as it requires some force and doesn't just pop out like some other carts like DSE103/8084. Note in the picture that cup is pushed to the top, its normal resting point sits deeper into the mouthpiece where it is a little dark and hard to see.

Alternatively if you don't want to use a syringe which would seem a bit too much to do while on the go...you could try a pinpoint oil dispenser:

Either way the m401 is not top off and refill friendly as other models like 801/901/510. It falls more into the drip/dip preferred method PV.

I'm actually wondering if the 510 I'm waiting on is going to compete with this 401...I really love this thing!

The 901 knockoff is getting very little to no use now...Tiff doesn't like it, and I really don't see the point of using it anymore because the 401 is so much better. But, I've still got some carts for it to kill off, so I guess I'll have to force myself to use it until they're depleted. It's just so much harder to draw off of, and isn't consistent like the 401.

Hmmm...Tiffany has begun referring to 'our' 401 as 'her' 401. This can't be good.

I hope 'my' 510 arrives tomorrow! lol

lol...that's how it worked out, and I'm fine with it. I love the 510...and I'm psyched she loves the 401.

I find it pretty easy to fill the 401 now...I've taken one of my precision screwdrivers in place of a paper clip, and I use that to push the carts cup up to drip into, then jostle the stuffing a bit to get the juice to settle into place. Two drops of juice on the atomizer and it's good to go.

I do like how infrequently the 401 needs to be refilled with juice...definitely lasts longer than the 510, which is good, because Tiff would probably grow frustrated if she had to top off a lot.

M401 was my first cigarette and it seems to be old faithful. While the Ecigar I bought is waiting for a replacement atty and I was waiting for a DSE-801 I used the M401. I like both of the others better. The 401 simply doesn't put out enough vapor for me. I like the DSE-801 and the RN4062. So far I like the RN4062 the best it's a vapor monster.
M401 simply doesn't have enough chamber or battery capacity for me.

Stirring up another old post here but I, too, love my 401's- I have the Dragon and the Gold Edition and just pre-ordered my Phoenix... It is my first e-cig and is a keeper for me! I love everything about it- I am glad I found it first- My husband currently uses the Sidesho (Modernvapor.com) and although it is nice, a smoother draw- it is supposedly a redesigned upgraded 401 and includes a PCC- Ihe now wants my Dragon more often than his Sidesho and he is getting a few 401 batts and attys so he can use when he wants to and not "steal" mine...
A PV is a personal decision and factors for choosing an e-cig are different for everyone... We are quite happy though and I hope other people are able to find their "end of the rainbow" w/ their first purchase....
