These look great, and certainly a good price!

I haven't used a mod before (this seems like a good introduction). Do you notice a difference between the 4.5v and the 6v?

Burke

Absolutely there's a difference. At 4.5 volts, it hits closer to a standard 901 (or what have you) battery with a slightly harder throat hit (and without the expensive $9 batteries, of course)

6 volts hits pretty hard and the personally I think the flavors are little more pronounced. Anything more than 6 volts will fry the atty--trust me, I've tried!

Running at 6 volts was the only way my husband & I quit smoking. I played with different gadgets for months and I couldn't quit even at 5 volts. I was spending a fortune in 901 batts, and carried six with me at all times AND still smoking!

We were hoping to offer a cheaper solution to anyone wanting to try something at a higher voltage; the cheapest mod I've found so far is $80 shipped. I think it might be a more inexpensive way to simply try it out. If you don't like it, at least you're not out much.

FYI--Wal-Mart carries rechargeable AAA 4 packs fairly reasonable ($10 for Kodak brand at 700 mAh which should last a whole day for moderate vapers) and Raovac brand charger for $6.50

I found CR2s at Deal Extreme; 2 packs for around $3 with free shipping. eBay is a good place to shop for these if you're in a hurry

Which style battery do you prefer? AAA or the CR2s? Does one last longer than the other? I've never had a mod b4 and have been wanting to get one.

Burke - thank you. that was one of the most objective descriptions I've read about the voltage difference.

Burke

I personally prefer CR2s because they run at 3 volts each equaling 6 volts. It's a matter of personal preferance, actually. If you like a soft hit, AAA will do the trick and they're conveinent to get. If you need a beefer hit, the kind that makes you cough the first time (ha ha), 6 volts is the way to go. Everyone has their favorite I suppose.

How long a battery last depends on the mAh. The higher the number, the longer the batt will last on a single charge. Anything above 600 should be adequate, depending on how much you vape. I've had 1000 mAh batteries last 2 days on a single charge. Though after many, many, many recharges I get a half day out of the same batteries. And I vape CONSTANTLY

As far as the life of these rechargeables, most can be recharged 500 times with proper care. I cannot speak for the AAAs, the packaging doesn't mention anything about how many charges it will take. I can say though, I've had some Duracell AA batts in my digital camera & have charged them well over 500 times. Those batts have been through some rough stuff as well.

I also forgot to mention that with the flashlight mod, I'll be including a 3 AAA battery holder that simply slides into the casing and a small sleeve for the CR2s (they are bit skinny though the sleeve holds them tighly in place)

If you are interested, you can pick up AAA's about anywhere but the really generic, no-name ones are worthless---tried this already. If interested in CR2, Deal Extreme has the best prices that I've come across, though ships by Registered AirMail (will get to you in about a month) If you want to test out quickly, as I said before, you can find some USA sellers on eBay but you're going to pay quite a bit more. I've never even checked Radio Shack or Best Buy because I was sure I'd be freaked out by price.

Should anyone purchase one and still have questions once you receive it, you are more than welcome to email or PM me at anytime.

So just to clarify even further - the unit we receive will have everything needed to go 4.5v or 6v, we just will choose which type of battery to use as the end-user, right?

Burke
03-07-2010, 05:24 PM
Absolutely correct. You get to choose everything yourself, case color, LED color, type of battery you'd like to use. It will come ready for whatever you prefer. All you need to provide is an atomizer and batteries and you're good to go

Greetings Burke, Welcome to the Vapezone.

Question, are you having any issues with premature switch burnout (PSB)?

I have a Prodigy V1 and the switch has been replaced 3 times now due to the high amp draw. I am building 2 different mods right now (Parts just ordered) 1 with a volt regulator to drop two CR123a to 5 volts and one with a PTN04050(Charge Pump) and a single 18650 3000mA battery but using a MOSFET in both to switch them.
Want to go with a flashlight mod but getting all those parts in there will be a bit tight for this old man. Had to buy a visor type magnifier recently just so to be able to soldier the parts.
Next mod maybe.

So what is the switch amp rating on your mod?

Burke

Awesome! Thanks guys, be sure to let me know how it works for ya after you give a good trying out.

You both are more than welcome to let me know your color/style choices & we can get a jump on getting them made up, just PM me with info

I'm going to order two of these babies. Maybe give one away to someone who's new to vaping. Looks like a neat little mod. Can't wait to play with it.

On another forum where I'm trying to advertise, they asked for pics of top & inside....I can't get a decent pic of inside so here's the top. They're also discussing different sized batteries that run at 3.6 volts, about the length of 2 CR2s. We haven't gotten any yet, but when the time comes, I'll annouce my findings on the long skinny batts.

Yes please do, I am interested in the 18650,16xxx, ect. Can get up to 3000mA with the big boys.

Do you have any means (room) to add a dropping resistor to get it to 5 volts? (.5 ohms 1/2 watt)

Clean picture by the way. Nice close up. and a GREAT price for a mod like this.

Are these the right batteries?:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.932

I'm going to be ordering one of your mods this time next week and want to make sure I'm getting the right batteries. I didn't see anywhere that said these were unprotected or protected.

Also I'm going to be ordering some 4075 attys, which as I understand, work with any 901. Do you know if there is any problem with these on your mod? Sorry for the 20 questions:)

Burke
03-16-2010, 03:47 PM
The batteries are what I'm vaping with, and I haven't tried the 4075 atty's. I install a standard 901 battery connector on my mod. I haven't tried them so I cann't say with 100% yes they will work.

strell
03-16-2010, 04:13 PM
I have heard of VERY rare instances where a 4075 atomizer doesn't quite make enough of a connection with certain 901 batteries, but in general (and in my personal experience) they should be completely compatible with any 901 battery thread.

zbemerson
03-16-2010, 04:43 PM
Cool. Worth the risk. Worst case I'll use my 901 atty's on the mod and the 4075 atty's for my regulars.

Make sure when you do go looking for batteries, check out Madvapes prices. Tom is a bit higher than DealExtreame but he generally beats even eBay.
And his shipping is stupid cheap.

I checked em out but this is the only charger I found close to charging a CR2:

http://www.madvapes.com/AD-108-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Charger_p_2042.html

It says it charges a CR123. Is that close enough to the same size?

Burke

You really need a cr2 battery charger for the cr2s.

Sending PM......

As for anyone else reading here, we have received many orders, much more than expected and as a result we have limited flashlight colors available at this time. We are however about to make an order of flashlights making available the color white, but I don't think we'll be able to get any more camo.

We are currently working on getting some different colors while maintaining orders as they come in.

We would like to thank everyone here for your interest and appreciate the generous comments we've received through email!
We sincerely appreciate everyone's business and support. Thanks to you guys, we've sold way more than we ever expected--wait to ship is about 3 weeks now and I apologize for the extra week but popularity speaks for itself.

Thanks again,
Shawn & Misty

Hello everyone. We’ve made a slight change in the way we will be selling the flashlights. While we’d like to thank everyone for their continued interest in our gadget, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day! We do have a lot going on here and it’s getting increasingly difficult to keep up with custom orders and get them out within two or three weeks.

Instead of made to order, on demand, we will be making flashlights and selling them in batches. For example, a handful of black flashlights with 901 connector will be available until they sell out. Once we have a handful of say, red flashlights with 801 connectors made up, they will be made available until they sell out, etc.

We am sorry to do this, but on the upside, once you place an order, there will be no need to wait for it to be made. Once payment is received, your flashlight will be in the mail the very next business day.

And so on and so forth. I’ll create a new posting for each item as they are made with quantities available. It will also be on a first come, first served basis. However, please do not PM me asking for me to hold one of this or that as I am not yet ready to begin waiting lists. Building of the flashlights has not even begun and it may be a bit before we have some ready.

Once I have posted a certain color and type, you may PM me with your info.

Many thanks to everyone!!
